How to get rid of raccoons?!?

I live in an apartment complex in Orlando, Fl and raccoons are horrible. At any time you see at least 6 near the trash compactor, and some on top of cars, some on the stairs and into the trees. I live on the third floor and finally have been sitting at my door. They're not afraid of humans and that will actually run after that, instead of away from you. I have complained to the apartment manger / Owners, and seems to believe that there is a problem. Many others have also complained. My neighbor does not go to work yesterday because his was two to your door. Raccoons can transmit rabies, and I fear it will bite. Any suggestions on how to keep them away? (And the custom of animal control to do anything unless the owner contacts them).

There are some things you can do. First, you can report the situation to the health department. Secondly, can sue the landlord in small claims court for not provide a habitable apartment. Animal control should help, but if not you can always take action yourself. Raccoons can catch one by one. I've attached an article explaining how to trap raccoons. It's easy. Get one of the neighbors to help. Once the raccoon is caught, you can call animal control to pick up or take it too far (so you do not return). Good luck.
